Eager Advocates of Green Lake Ecology
The Green Lake Association is proud to announce that this summer there will be a series of
workshops that will introduce the lakeside residents and/or users to
various aspects of our lake that make it unique.
Participants will learn about our lake, some of its history and how to care for and maximize the benefits our beautiful lake has to offer.
Planned workshops include
Our first gathering will be at the Green Lake Fish hatchery. We will meet Monday June 26th in time for a 9:00 AM hatchery tour with Assistant Manager, Catherine Johnson. The tour will be followed by a walk to the Green Lake Dam. Participants must be able to stand 1 hour and walk a mile. We will learn about raising and stocking Atlantic salmon, why hatcheries are needed, about the first hatchery on Green Lake and the history of the Green Lake Dam.
Group size limited to 12. Children must be with an adult.
Our second gathering is a light an amusing look at the State of Maine's symbols. We will meet outside Tuesday July 18th at 9:00AM at the picnic tables at the Ellsworth Boat Landing on the Nicolin Road. Come share a laugh and learn something, too. All ages welcome. Children must bring an adult please.
